This was our first year attending Dunster Show and what a fantastic day it was! Set in the beautiful grounds of Dunster Castle, the show provided a stunning backdrop, with the castle looking magnificent against the hillside.
The sun shone throughout the day, with temperatures staying at a pleasant 20°C, making it an enjoyable event for both the trade stands and visitors.
For our first year, we brought along our smaller stand, but our bunting, welcoming display and friendly faces certainly caught the attention of new local customers, holidaymakers, thatched property owners and farmers alike. We treated our visitors to delicious homemade cake and a drink of their choice, giving them the perfect opportunity to refuel before heading off to enjoy the rest of the show.
As the main ring entertainment began to get busier from around 11am, with competitors travelling from all over the country, we welcomed a steady stream of visitors to our stand. Our homemade sausage rolls were particularly popular and soon disappeared!
Our luxury hamper was another big attraction, with visitors taking their guesses at the number of grains very seriously in the hope of winning the prize. At 3pm, the winner was announced and the hamper was collected with the declaration: ‘I never win anything, I’m delighted!’
As the footfall began to ease, we continued to welcome our final visitors of the day, serving up the last of our homemade cake to some tired but very happy showgoers. Dunster Show is a wonderful event and a fabulous day out for all the family. County can’t wait to return next year!
