Ashbourne Show 2026

This was our fourth year attending the Ashbourne Show and after experiencing the hottest day of the year just 48 hours earlier, we were all wondering what the weather would be like. Fortunately, it turned out to be a pleasant 22 degrees with a lovely breeze.

Our “Whamper” attracted plenty of interest, with visitors using a variety of techniques to guess the number of grains in the jar. Excitement built throughout the day as everyone waited for the winner to be announced at 3pm.

The continental-style breakfast of croissants, preserves and orange juice proved popular, giving our friends a few minutes to pause and reset before continuing their walk around the showground.

Ashbourne Show remains a wonderfully traditional country and agricultural event, with strong entries across all the animal classes. This year’s featured attraction was Scurry Driving, where the fast-paced, technical driving drew plenty of interest from visitors.

Lunchtime was especially busy as we welcomed familiar friends and had the opportunity to chat with new ones. The Ploughman’s boxes were soon flying out of the galley to keep up with demand.

At 3pm, the winner was announced, and a very proud family pushed the Whamper towards the show exit. We quickly put together a second prize for a young girl whose guess had been remarkably accurate, as we felt her effort deserved recognition.

As the pace of the day eased, we served homemade cakes to tired but happy visitors who had enjoyed another wonderful day out at Ashbourne Show.
